Self Esteem

Self esteem is a person’s overall evaluation or appraisal of his or her own worth.   Low self esteem leads the person suffering from it to blame themselves for things that aren't their fault, underestimate their own abilities, expect things to go wrong and generally feel worthless or inadequate.

Some of the most common feelings connected with low self esteem include:

  • Lack of self confidence
  • Focusing on negative thoughts or behaviours
  • Lack of belief in yourself and your abilities
  • Often feeling that other people are somehow better than you
  • Afraid of failure or poor results
  • Strong emotional and upset feelings
  • Depression and/or anxiety
  • Feeling worthless
  • Difficulty accepting compliments
  • Believing you don’t deserve anything better than what you have
  • Worried and afraid of what others think of you

These feelings of low self esteem and the cause of them are often deeply buried in our subconscious.  They can date back to incidents or experiences in our past that we may have no direct memory of.    They may have been caused by our upbringing, or events or experiences from childhood or adolescence.  They can also be described as learned behaviours because we have, in effect, gradually trained ourselves to believe them.

That is why Hypnotherapy and NLP are such effective methods of treating and combating low self esteem. As a qualified Hypnotherapist, I will act as the ‘bridge’ to your subconscious mind and implant positive suggestions to change your focus to a more positive and empowered way of thinking about yourself, your abilities and your strengths.   Your confidence in yourself and hence your self esteem will grow and improve.   Take the first step today, and call Carol Goodwin at State of Mind Hypnotherapy.
